Fibreglass Mesh

Heating mats use a fibreglass mesh to pre-space and fix the heating cable onto so that the system can be installed quickly. The mesh must be of a suitable size to let tile adhesive easily penetrate it and the mesh can be cut easily to allow the mat to be turned around and laid more easily.

Preferably the fibreglass mesh should be placed on top of the heating cable to provide additional protection to the heating cable during installation. Some manufacturer’s recommend using a pre-glued mesh however this can lead to problems when used in dusty environments as the glue will not stick.

Heat Mat’s undertile heating mats are supplied with the mesh above the cable offering a high degree of protection to it and additionally they are non-glued. The mat is fixed to the floor with four rows of high quality double sided tape.
