Underfloor Heating Wire Construction – Outer Insulation

The outer insulation of an underfloor heating wire must provide the electrical protection required by the relevant standards whilst also ensuring the cable is suitably protected from damage during installation.

Although a number of heating cables use a Teflon outer insulation this material is easily cut into or scuffed during installation and offers little protection against crushing. All Heat Mat cables use a PVC outer insulation that offers good protection against crushing during installation but more importantly is very robust against cuts and scuffing.
