Cable Trace, a revolutionary product for the location of underfloor heating cables beneath floors
Heat Mat's Cable Trace is a ground breaking new product that enables the safe detection of underfloor heating cables beneath floors. Cable Trace is a heat sensitive liquid crystal film with a tough 100U polyester backing for protection against scuffing and damage.
The sheets are 450mm by 300mm and are designed to operate optimally between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius. The main purpose of the sheets is to locate electric underfloor heating cables laid directly beneath tiles. The sheet can also be used to locate cables beneath vinyl and similar floor coverings that have been laid on top of a levelling compound containing heating cables. Cable Trace can be used where an electric underfloor heating system has been laid and you need to locate where the heating wires are placed.
This is particularly useful if you need to screw something into the floor (such as a door stop or pedestal), or if you need to confirm that a particular section of floor is or is not heated. Professional installers can also use the system to confirm if cooler areas of a heated floor are caused by a lack of heating cable or by heat loss to the surrounding area, such as a cold wall or draughts.
