Laminate
With laminate floors it is vital to spread the heat evenly beneath the flooring to avoid discolouration or movement in the floor. For residential properties we recommend installing our 6mm Decora insulation layer onto the floor to prevent downward heat loss and then installing our Underlaminate System heating mats on top. These mats have an output of 150W/sqm and due to their dual-conductor design are fast to install. They are fully earthed for safety unlike a carbon film heating system.
The benefits of this system are rapid reaction time, has a low build height and no ‘wet trade’ (such as levelling compounds) is required during the installation. For very high traffic areas and commercial premises, we would recommend installing a heating system beneath a levelling compound or screed (as with vinyl/Karndean floors) - better suited to heavy traffic. It is important not to trap the heat beneath the laminate so any layer of acoustic insulation placed above the heating system must be able to cope with the heat produced by the mats and also let the heat transfer through to the laminate floor.
