A mountain to climb

We are supporting the Electrical Industries Charity 'Challenge for a Cause' 2017

Our MD, Johanne Stimson, has a mountain to climb in February 2017 as she embarks on a trek up Mount Kilimanjaro.

Electrical Industries Charity Trek

The charity aims to raise £100,000 from the expedition to enable research into a very rare cancer and financially support a family affected by it.

Mount Kilimanjaro rises from the Savannah in Africa to a height of 5,895m.

Jo and 24 other intrepid trekkers will spend 10 days tackling the mountain from 4th - 13th February 2017.

The trek aims to raise funds for research into Bile Duct Cancer (Cholangiocarcinoma) and assist a family, the Hendrie's, who lost their husband and father Christopher at the age of 32, to the illness over the course of 10 weeks in 2014. Christopher Hendrie was a respected electrician from Belfast leaving behind a pregnant wife (at the time) and two children.

10% of the funds raised will go to research into Cholangiocarcinoma and the remainder to help Christopher's family.

“As a manufacturer working in the electrical industry Christopher could have easily been a customer of Heat Mat's products so this is my way to give something back to an industry that, over the past 13 years, has been very good me and the company I run,” says Jo.

Jo has already begun raising funds for the Electrical Industry Charity via a Just Giving page with an aim of raising £6,000.
