Be-spook underfloor Heating
We have supplied Heating Mats and Thermal Insulation Boards for medieval Pengersick Castle in Praa Sands Cornwall.
Rumoured to be one of the country's most haunted historic properties, Pengersick attracts ghost hunters (including the TV show Most Haunted>) and historians. The castle is currently undergoing refurbishment and due to re-open in Summer 2014. As part of the essential restoration work the kitchen, used for ghost nights and historical talks, is being improved. Due to the age of the property heaters cannot be placed onto the granite walls, so the castle's owners commissioned contractors GN Electrical of Porthowan, Truro to install an underfloor heating system to improve visitor's comfort. For this unique installation we specified self-levelling compound to create an even floor surface, 20mm thermal insulation boards, 200W underfloor heating mats and a 16A NGT Thermostat to control the system. The system was sold though wholesaler G&R Electrical in Redruth, Cornwall. GN Electrical began by applying the levelling compound and installing the thermal insulation boards onto the floor, following treatment for water penetration. The underfloor heating mats were then laid on top and connected to the thermostat. Our new underfloor heating system will take the chill off events at the castle, but it may not prevent any mysterious cold shudders.
